An explosion took place outside a government aviation company in Ankara, Turkey on Wednesday. According to local media, there was firing along with the blast outside Turkish Aerospace Industries.
So far four people have been confirmed dead and 14 injured in this attack. This company is located 28 kilometers from north-west Ankara.
Turkey’s Home Minister Ali Yerlikaya has called this attack a terrorist attack on his X account. He has written, “Some have been martyred and many have been injured in this attack.”
CCTV footage running on social media can show that there are two armed men inside the aviation company.
BBC diplomatic correspondent Paul Adams says that it cannot be said right now how many attackers there were.
However, Turkey’s Home Minister has said that there were two attackers.
This aerospace company is important for Turkey
This is a government company related to weapons and aerospace technology, whose headquarters is near the capital Ankara.
This company makes military, and civilian aircraft and helicopters.
Apart from this, the company also makes drone systems for the Turkish army. This company also exports weapons and drones to many countries of the world.
Turkey had formed this company to reduce its dependence on weapons from other countries of the world. A NATO member country has played an important role in the formation of this company and America’s F-16 fighter planes are also manufactured here. Along with this, the work of modernizing old fighter planes is also done in this company.
Historically, Kurdish separatists have been held responsible for such attacks. The camp of Kurdish separatists is in northern Syria. The Turkish Air Force has been continuously carrying out air strikes in these areas.
But the Islamic State (IS) is also present in Turkey.
The drones made by the Turkish aerospace company that was attacked have changed the entire equation of the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
