Uddhav Chopper Search: Former CM Uddhav Thackeray's helicopter searched again, Shiv Sena UBT furious over the action

Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Chunav 2024: A case of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s helicopter being searched again has come to light. Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray (UBT) is very angry with this action. The Election Commission has made it clear that the commission is taking action as per the SOP. No action is being taken against any particular leader.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s helicopter has been searched again. Uddhav’s party- Shiv Sena UBT is showing an aggressive attitude regarding this action. According to reports, Uddhav’s helicopter, who went to Latur by helicopter in connection with the election campaign, was searched along with his bag. A video of the action has also been shared on the official X handle of Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena UBT alleges that action is being taken against Shiv Sena in a spirit of vengeance, while no action is being taken on the incident of distribution of money by the parties involved in the ruling Mahayuti (BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP). The Election Commission has said that action is taken according to the set rules.

Let us tell you that voting is to be held in Maharashtra on November 20. Before this, political allegations and counter-allegations are being fiercely made. Accusing the Election Commission and the BJP-led central government of disregarding the Constitution, Shiv Sena said, ‘The Constitution written by Dr. Baba Saheb talks about equal justice for all of us. But the people of Delhi, who have taken the system in their hands and are ruling by trampling democracy, have decided to disregard that Constitution at every level.’

The belongings of Kamalabai and traitors should also be investigated in the same way

Shiv Sena alleged that some officials investigated the belongings of Uddhav Thackeray. In a Marathi description of the video shared on the X handle, Shiv Sena said, ‘What happened was great. However, why are they afraid of taxes? Now Kamalabai and traitors’ belongings should also be checked in the same way! People should understand who is carrying the boxes, from where, and how. Who is trying to hang the sanyasi other than the thief!’

What statement did the Election Commission give?

A statement was issued quoting Election Commission sources on the allegations of checking the bag of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. On the allegations of being targeted by the officials, Election Commission sources said on Tuesday, under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), planes and helicopters of top leaders of all political parties are checked. According to the Commission, during the last elections, planes and helicopters of BJP President JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah were also checked.

JP Nadda and Shah’s helicopters were also searched in Bihar

A commission official said the agencies follow strict SOPs to ensure equal opportunity for the candidates contesting the elections. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a similar issue was raised in Bihar. The commission has clarified that the helicopters of prominent leaders including Nadda were checked in Bhagalpur district on April 24. Amit Shah was also checked in Katihar district on April 21 as per the SOP.

Instructions to search helicopters of all leaders

Sources also underlined the statement of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. The commission reminded that instructions have been given to the enforcement agencies to ensure that the helicopters of all the leaders are checked so that all candidates get equal opportunity.
