After the attack on Iran, Israel's military said, 'Our planes returned home safely'

The Israeli Army (IDF) has said that its attacks on Iranian military targets are now over.

A statement from the IDF a short time ago said, “The army has completed its precise strikes in several areas of Iran.

Now our aircraft have returned home safely.

Earlier, the Israeli army had said that it was carrying out ‘precision strikes on Iranian military targets’. Iran’s government media also reported several explosions in the capital Tehran.

Supporting these attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had said, “Like any other sovereign nation in the world, the Israeli nation has the right and the duty to respond.”

IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said that after October 7, 2023, “the regime in Iran and its allies in the region have repeatedly attacked Israel.”

Hagari had said, “Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully active.”

“We will do whatever is necessary to protect the Israeli nation and the people of Israel.”

It is understood that Israel carried out these attacks in response to the missile attacks carried out by Iran on October 1.

What Iran Said

Iranian government media said that loud explosions were heard in the capital Tehran.

News agency Reuters quoted Iran’s state TV as saying that an Iranian intelligence official has said that the loud explosion could be due to the activation of Iran’s air defense system.

However, it is not yet clear what kind of military targets Israel has targeted in Iran.

News agency AFP has reported through Iran’s government TV channel that Tehran’s two airports are operating ‘normally’.

The White House has said that it is aware of Israel’s attacks on Iran.

“We understand Israel is carrying out strikes against military targets in Iran in response to Iran’s ballistic missile attacks on Israel on October 1,” a National Security Council spokesman told CBS, the BBC’s news partner in the US. This is an action of self-defense.

There were fears of a retaliatory attack

According to BBC Middle East region editor Sebastian Asher, it is understood that these attacks are a response to the missile attacks launched by Iran on Israel on October 1.

In that attack, Iran fired 200 ballistic missiles at Israel.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said it was Israel’s “right and duty” to respond to the Iranian attack. Israel has now deployed its offensive and defensive capabilities to their fullest.

Iran’s government media has confirmed that explosions were heard in the western areas of Tehran.

A news agency close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said some military targets in west and southwest Tehran had been attacked.

However, the scale of the attack and at which locations it has not been known.

The Syrian government news agency has said that the Israeli army has also attacked some military targets in central and southern areas of Syria.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has released a photo of him in which he is shown present at the operation center of the military headquarters during this attack.
