Hyderabad: Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday by Hyderabad police following the tragic death of a woman during the premiere of his highly anticipated film, Pushpa 2: The Rule. A woman lost her life in a stampede caused by overwhelming crowds assembled for the event in the city where Allu Arjun was present.

Arjun was taken into custody from his residence under heavy security arrangements and escorted to the Chikkadpalli police station. Police authorities are yet to release a detailed statement about the charges against the actor.

Telangana CM reacts to Allu Arjun’s arrest.

Responding to the incident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stressed that the law would take its due course. “I will not interfere in the investigation of the case. Police action taken due to death in stampede,” said the Chief Minister in a statement.

A 35-year-old woman tragically lost her life, and her eight-year-old son was hospitalized following a raid during an event for actor Allu Arjun’s upcoming film at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad on the night of December 4. The incident occurred when A large crowd of fans assembled to catch a glimpse of the Telugu superstar.

The Hyderabad police has registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theater management at the Chikkadpally police station. The charges were filed under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s family.

According to reports, the stampede resulted from poor crowd management and a lack of security measures at the venue, leading to chaos. While the mother suffered to her injuries, her son is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

In reaction to the case, Allu Arjun filed a petition with the Telangana High Court on December 11, seeking to quash the FIR registered against him.
