New Delhi: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan has been taken into custody by Pakistan Rangers after he accidentally crossed the border in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector. Talks are on between the security agencies of the two countries for the jawan’s release, officials said on Thursday.
According to information, Constable P.K. Singh of the 182nd Battalion was caught by Pakistan Rangers across the Ferozepur border on Wednesday. The jawan was in uniform at the time and was also carrying a service rifle.
It is being told that Constable Singh was with the farmers and went ahead to rest under the shade of a tree a little distance away, when he accidentally crossed the border and was caught by Pakistan Rangers.
Officials said that after this incident, flag meetings are being held between the two sides so that the jawan can be released safely.
They also said that such incidents have happened between the two countries in the past, and it is not unusual.
The incident comes at a time when India is taking strong steps against Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism after the Pahalgam terror attack.
