Cyclone Fengal, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, has crossed the coast. This cyclone crossed the coast near Puducherry between 10:30 and 11:30 last night. It is currently continuing to intensify. It is moving slowly towards the west-southwest and gradually weakening. Due to this, the Meteorological Department officials are warning that there is a possibility of heavy rains in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Impact of Cyclone Fengal in AP
People in low-lying areas where rains are expected to be alert. Strong winds are blowing at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour when Cyclone Fengal crosses the coast. Once it reaches the coast, it will weaken again into a severe cyclonic storm. Due to the impact of this cyclone, heavy rains are falling in many parts of the state of Andhra Pradesh along with Tamil Nadu.
Heavy rains today and tomorrow
The India Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of heavy rains today, especially in Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra, and Yanam. The Meteorological Department has also stated that there is a possibility of light to moderate rains in Telangana state. On the one hand, due to the impact of the cyclone, rains have been falling in the southern coastal areas of Rayalaseema along with Tamil Nadu state since Friday.

Heavy rains in these districts
The Cyclone Warning Center in Visakhapatnam has issued warnings that there is a possibility of heavy rains on Sunday and Monday as well. According to the Meteorological Department’s warnings, heavy rains will occur on Sunday and Monday, that is, today and tomorrow, in Tirupati, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR and Sri Sathya Sai districts.
Chance of flash floods in these districts
Not only that, it has also warned that there is a risk of flash floods in the Prakasam district, Nellore district, YSR district, and Chittoor districts. The Meteorological Department has warned fishermen in coastal areas not to go fishing till Monday. The sixth warning has been issued for Krishnapatnam port, and the third warning has been issued for Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Nizampatnam, and Vadarevu ports.
Heavy rain in Tirupati yesterday
Meanwhile, due to the impact of the cyclone, it rained continuously in Tirumala yesterday. The routes from Tirumala to Srivari Padawan Papa Vinasaman were closed due to rain. On Saturday, the highest rainfall of 13.3 cm was recorded in KM Agraharam in Tirupati district. Traffic came to a standstill as water reached the causeway in Narayanavanam, Yerpedu, and KVP Puram mandals.

Due to the rains, a holiday has been declared for schools in the districts affected by heavy rains from yesterday afternoon. On the other hand, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a review yesterday on Cyclone Fangal and spoke to top officials of the Disaster Management Department, District Collectors, CMO, and Real-Time Governance officials. He issued orders to assess the situation in real-time and take action. Meteorological Department officials advise people in low-lying areas to be alert due to flash floods.
