Day 2 of the final Test of this ongoing Test series in Mumbai is just beginning, and India are struggling at 86/4 at stumps on Day 1. Bowling first, India had bundled out New Zealand for 235 runs and then made a strong start and reached 78/1. But in the last 15 minutes, the Kiwi bowlers gave India three blows. Yashasvi Jaiswal (30) was dismissed by Ajaz Patel, after which nightwatchman Mohammad Siraj returned without opening the account. Then the run out of Virat Kohli (4) put the team in more trouble. Shubman Gill (31) and Rishabh Pant (1) remained unbeaten and will carry forward India’s innings on the second day. India is still trailing by 149 runs and will try to reduce the deficit today.
Batting in the first innings, New Zealand scored 235 runs. Daryl Mitchell scored 82 runs but missed a century. Ravindra Jadeja completed his 14th Test five-wicket haul by taking two wickets in the first hour of the third session. Jadeja achieved this feat by dismissing Ish Sodhi and Matt Henry in the same over. At the same time, Sundar sent Ajaz Patel to the pavilion as the last wicket.
