On the auspicious occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day held in Visakhapatnam, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi once again called upon the world community to adopt “inner peace” as a global policy and make yoga a shared responsibility of humanity.
Yoga Day 2025: Call to connect humanity
Prime Minister Modi said that yoga is not just an individual practice but a medium to connect humanity. With this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, he gave a message to take the world towards a movement that promotes not only health but also peace and harmony.
“Let us all together make yoga a mass movement. A movement that takes the world towards health, peace, and balance.”
Grand event in Visakhapatnam
The presence of Indian Naval ships at the event, held on the beautiful seashores of Visakhapatnam, added to the grandeur of the festival. Prime Minister Modi was joined by citizens of Andhra Pradesh, yoga enthusiasts, and several dignitaries to perform yoga on this historic occasion.
Yoga: Connecting with Self and Nature
In his speech, the Prime Minister said:
“Yoga teaches us that we are not just isolated individuals, but an integral part of nature. Through yoga, we not only take care of our health, but gradually our awareness towards society, environment, and the entire planet also increases.” He described yoga as a medium for the journey from ‘Me’ to ‘We’ – from self to society and then to the entire humanity.
Demand for Yoga as a Global Policy
PM Modi appealed that every country, every society should adopt yoga and see it as a shared responsibility for global peace and health. This initiative should become the basis of not only well-being at the individual level, but also cooperation and collective consciousness at the global level.
“Today, on this occasion, we urge the world community to make yoga a shared responsibility for humanity, so that we can move towards a healthy, balanced, and peaceful world.”
Prime Minister’s praise to the Andhra Pradesh Government
Prime Minister Modi praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan, saying that the leadership and resolve with which they have organized this event are exemplary and inspiring.
Organizing Yoga Day in the city of Visakhapatnam is a symbol of how the confluence of nature and progress is possible. I especially congratulate the Government of Andhra Pradesh for this effort.
Yoga’s global journey from the 2014 UN resolution to today
The Prime Minister recalled that in 2014, on India’s initiative, the United Nations General Assembly recognized 21 June as International Yoga Day, which received the support of more than 170 countries. Since then, Yoga has become a symbol of global peace, health, and balance.

Yoga for All – Beyond Borders
PM Modi said:
“Yoga is not limited to any one caste, religion, or country. It is a global gift that offers healthy living, inner balance, and oneness with humanity to every individual, every society.”
From Inner Peace to Global Stability
The Prime Minister emphasised that outer stability and collective well-being are possible only through inner peace. At a time when the world is grappling with a variety of mental, social, and environmental challenges, Yoga can become a solution.
“Let us consider Yoga not only as a personal discipline but make it the foundation of global partnership.”
Benefits of adopting Yoga:
1. Improved mental health
Practicing Yoga regularly helps reduce mental problems like stress, anxiety, and depression to a great extent.
2. Improved physical health
The right Yogasanas and Pranayama improve the body’s immune system, muscle flexibility, and heart health.
3. Discipline and balance in life
Yoga leads life in a balanced, disciplined, and positive direction.
4. Awareness towards society and the environment
Yoga is not limited to the body and mind; it makes us aware of our responsibility towards nature, society, and the world.
Final message: Make yoga a part of daily life
Yoga Day 2025 is not just a festival but a movement – a movement that can contribute to connecting humanity, improving health, and establishing peace.
“Start every morning with yoga. Connect every society with yoga. Make yoga a part of your life – for the well-being of your health, family, and the world.”
