Darshan is considered the main accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. On October 21, Darshan was taken to Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary, Karnataka on complaints of back pain, where doctors advised him to undergo spinal surgery. A crowd of his fans gathered outside the hospital even amid heavy security.
Earlier a trial court had refused to grant bail to Darshan, believing that he could tamper with evidence and witnesses. It is alleged that Darshan had paid money to destroy evidence of Renukaswamy’s murder. According to the charge sheet, Darshan had also confessed that he had hit Renukaswamy with a tree branch and kicked her near the head, chest, and neck.
Renukaswamy, who claimed to be a fan of Pavithra Gowda, had allegedly sent objectionable messages to the actress, which angered Gowda’s live-in partner Darshan.
