Congress MLA Nana Patole demanded a probe into the murder case, while Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Ambadas Danve also stressed the need for a thorough investigation.
The brutal murder of Masajog Gram Panchayat sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh of Beed and the custodial death in Parbhani resonated in the winter session. Congress MLA Nana Patole demanded a probe into the murder case, while Ambadas Danve also stressed a thorough investigation into the matter.
Speaking on the matter, Nana Patole said, “The brutal murder of sarpanch and violation of the Constitution is happening after the BJP government came to power. An activist in Parbhani, who was associated with Ambedkarite ideology, died in police custody. These incidents are severe and create deep resentment among Ambedkar supporters and the state public. The government should be ready to respond to these issues.”
Leveling serious allegations against former minister Ravindra Chavan, Patole further said, “A case of the kidnapping of a child named Vaibhav has come to light from the residence of former minister Ravindra Chavan. Vaibhav was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 9 crore, out of which Rs 4.5 crore has been recovered and the remaining Rs 4.5 crore is being demanded by subjecting him to severe torture. What kind of recovery mechanism is this? Where did Chavan get so much money from?”
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis agreed to discuss both the cases in the House. He said, “The government has taken the brutal murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh very seriously. We have sent the concerned police inspector on forced leave and suspended a PSI. Three accused have been arrested and those who are absconding will also be caught soon. I assure the opposition leaders that action will be taken against anyone involved in this case, irrespective of their affiliation with any party. The case has been handed over to the CID, where a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be formed to investigate. Through the investigation, action will be taken against all those involved in the incident.”
