Maharastra Assembly Election 2024 Fadnavis said- BJP wants to push behind Amit Thackeray on Mahim seat

Maharastra Assembly Election 2024: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that BJP wants to push behind Amit Thackeray for the Mahim seat. The ruling Shiv Sena is also contesting on this seat.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that the BJP wants to push behind Amit Thackeray for the Mahim seat. The ruling Shiv Sena is also contesting on this seat. Amit is the son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray. Talking to reporters, Fadnavis said that efforts will be made to find a solution to this situation.

‘BJP will try to persuade leaders to withdraw names’

He said that BJP will try to persuade its rebel leaders to withdraw their names. But there will be a friendly contest on some seats. Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has fielded sitting MLA Sada Sarvankar from Mahim. While former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded Mahesh Sawant as its candidate from the same seat.

MNS had supported Mahayuti in the Lok Sabha elections

Raj Thackeray’s MNS is not a part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance. Mahayuti includes BJP, Shiv Sena, and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party. However, MNS had supported the ruling alliance in the Lok Sabha elections this year.

‘BJP and Shiv Sena will support Amit Thackeray’

Fadnavis said that there is an agreement between BJP and Chief Minister Shinde to support Amit Thackeray. But leaders of Shinde-led Shiv Sena say that if the party does not contest the elections, their voters will go to Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT). BJP is ready to support Amit Thackeray and is still firm on its stand.

‘Will discuss Mahim seat, find a solution’: Devendra Fadnavis

When asked about the solution to this situation, Fadnavis said, that when we (Mahayuti leaders) meet, we will discuss it and try to find a solution. The state will go for a single-phase polling on November 20 next month. The counting of votes will take place three days later on November 23.
