This incident follows a similar threat received on November 16, when a bomb threat was made via the RBI’s customer care number. In that instance, the caller claimed to be the ‘CEO of Lashkar-e-Taiba,’ the terrorist group responsible for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received a bomb threat via email on Thursday at noon, marking the second such incident in less than a month. The email, written in Russian, was sent to the RBI’s official website, leading to immediate action from officials.
The Mumbai Police have registered a case against the unidentified sender at Mata Ramabai Ambedkar (MRA) Marg Police Station. Authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to trace the sender, who remains at large.
The second threat within a month
This incident follows a similar threat received on November 16, when a bomb threat was made via the RBI’s customer care number. In that instance, the caller claimed to be the ‘CEO of Lashkar-e-Taiba,’ the terrorist group responsible for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Adding a strange twist, the caller reportedly sang a song before issuing the threat.
The Mumbai police have elevated their vigilance in light of these repeated threats and all security agencies are on high alert. Security measures at RBI offices and surrounding areas have been intense to mitigate any potential risks.
Probe Below In The Matter
Authorities are investigating whether the two incidents are linked or if the threats are part of a larger plot. The use of the Russian language in the latest email has added an international dimension to the case, raising questions about the sender’s identity and motivation.
Further updates are awaited as the police deepen their investigation into these alarming incidents.
