‘Toxic’ first glance: Yash delights fans on birthday with sneak-peek

Exuding the vibe of American gangster films, ‘Toxic’, directed by Geetu Mohandas, is billed as a ‘fairy tale for grown-ups’

The makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups have released the first glimpse of the movie on Yash’s birthday. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the movie went on floors in Bengaluru in August 2024.

The pan-Indian film is bankrolled by KVN Productions, the banner that’s also producing Vijay’s last film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69. Yash’s Monster Mind Creations is co-producing Toxic.

The sneak peek channels the vibe of American gangster movies. In it, Yash, dressed in a white suit, and fedora and holding a cigar, makes a commanding entrance into a club. The sultry ambiance of the joint, pulsating with extravagance, indulgence, and sinful soirée, sets the stage for this “Fairy Tale for grown-ups.”

Toxic was previously scheduled to release on April 10, 2025. However, Yash confirmed in a recent interview that the film will hit the screens much later than announced.

Hollywood action choreographer JJ Perry, who worked in films such as Planet of the Apes, Iron Man and John Wick Chapter 2, has joined the movie. Apart from this, the makers of Toxic haven’t announced the details of the film’s cast and crew. Kiara Advani is reportedly playing a prominent role in the film. In March 2024, the film team released a statement quashing the rumors that Sai Pallavi, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shruti Haasan are part of the film, asking fans to refrain from speculations.

Toxic was hit by a controversy in October 2024 when Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre alleged that hundreds of trees were illegally axed on forestland in the possession of the Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) premises at Peenya in Bengaluru during the shoot of the movie. The producers of the film denied the charges, saying the film team didn’t violate any rules.

Meanwhile, Yash is set to play Ravan in the highly-anticipated pan-Indian movie Ramayana. While Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi will play Ram and Sita respectively, Nitish Tiwari of ‘Dangal’ fame will direct the movie. Yash is co-producing the movie with Namit Malhotra under the banner Prime Focus India.
