VIDEO: ‘Grenade’ attack on temple by two bike-borne miscreants in Punjab’s Amritsar, Pakistan’s involvement suspected

Unidentified assailants reported hurling an explosive object, suspected to be a grenade, at a Hindu temple in Punjab’s Amritsar on Saturday. The incident took place in the Khandwala area of the city.

The incident took place in the Khandwala area of the city. The blast was so powerful that it also impacted the nearby buildings, breaking their windows.

Two attackers came on a motorcycle and threw the explosive object inside the temple. The bike in which the assailants came had a flag. A loud noise was heard by the locals after the object exploded. Panic engulfed the area after the incident.

The explosion occurred at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. After receiving the news, senior police officials reached the spot. There are no reports of any casualties or injuries due to the blast. The extended of collateral damage is yet to be ascertained.

Amritsar Commissioner Hints At ISI’s Involvement:

Amritsar Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar hinted at the involvement of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI in the attack. “We got the information at 2 a.m. We reached the spot just away. The forensic team was called…We checked the CCTV and spoke to the nearby people. The thing is that Pakistan’s ISI lures our youth into creating unrest in Punjab. We will trace this matter within days and take appropriate action. I warn the youth not to ruin their lives… We will catch the culprits soon,” Bhullar told ANI.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Amritsar temple blast:

Mann also pointed toward Pakistan’s involvement in the attack. “The drones are coming from Pakistan. I want to assure the people of Punjab that the state is secure. The police are resolving the cases within no time,” the Punjab CM said.

What locals said:

“At around 12 am, two people came on the bike, stopped outside the Thakur Dwar Mandir, conducted a recce, and threw a grenade at the temple. The blast was so powerful that it also impacted the nearby buildings, breaking their windows and all. The police later reached the spot. As per the evidence, this was a grenade attack,” lawyer Kiranpreet Singh told PTI.
