Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s organization ‘YouWeCan’ has come in the midst of controversy over an advertisement related to breastfeeding.
This organization had given an advertisement related to breast cancer in Delhi Metro, regarding which many users raised questions on social media.
Following the controversy, Delhi Metro has said that this advertisement has been removed.
While answering a user’s question, ‘YouWeCan said, “We aimed to bring awareness about breast cancer through this advertisement. We did not want to hurt anyone.”
How did the dispute start?
On Wednesday, October 23, an advertisement related to breast cancer was published in Delhi Metro in which the breast was compared with orange.
The advertisement, which claimed to create awareness among people about breast cancer, said, “Check your orange once a month.”
Many users on social media raised questions regarding this matter.
On Wednesday, on social media platform X, journalist Rituparna Chatterjee shared the picture of this advertisement pasted on Delhi Metro.
He wrote, “Yuvraj Singh’s organization, while responding to my question regarding the breast cancer ad ‘Check Your Oranges’, called it a bold creative choice. I don’t agree with this.”
While posting on X, a user wrote, “These posters have been put up in Delhi Metro to bring awareness about breast cancer. These posters have been put up by Yuvraj Singh’s organization and in them, the woman’s breast has been compared with orange. “.
“Anyone looking at this idea will find it insensitive towards women.”
Another user wrote, “Are you in your right mind? Who is responsible for this ad? It is completely insensitive.”
Another user wrote, “Your fight against cancer is inspiring. But please change this advertising company. It is not right to compare breasts with oranges.”
What did Delhi Metro say?
Delhi Metro has said that this advertisement was removed on Wednesday i.e. 23rd October at 7.45 pm.
Delhi Metro wrote on Twitter, “An advertisement related to breast cancer awareness was put up in Delhi Metro train. DMRC did not find it appropriate and took immediate action.”
“This advertisement appeared once in a metro train on 23 October 2024 and was removed at 7.45 pm on the same day. DMRC is extremely sensitive to public sentiments and does not promote such things.”
Delhi Metro further said, “This advertisement was not correct and does not meet the minimum conditions for placing advertisements in public places. Delhi Metro will make every effort to ensure that no such advertisement is released in the metro in the future. “

Although Yuvraj Singh’s organization had defended this advertisement in its statement.
Responding to journalist Rituparna Chatterjee’s question on social media platforms, the organization said, “We know how difficult it is to talk openly to people about breast cancer.”
“This is a topic that most people avoid talking about until someone or someone close to them is affected.”
YouWeCan said, “Using orange for our ad was a bold choice and one that was carefully thought through. The aim was to break the silence around breast cancer.”
“We won’t use any ad that might offend you. We think this ad has had enough success and people are talking about it more and more. Our goal is to help people take action to save lives.” And we will continue to work towards this objective.”
