BJP MPs in the House called Suman’s statement an insult to Rana Sanga and the Rajput community and demanded an apology.
New Delhi: There was a lot of uproar in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday over the controversial statement of Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman regarding Rana Sanga. In his speech, Suman had termed Rana Sanga a “traitor” and claimed that he had invited Mughal emperor Babar to India to defeat Ibrahim Lodi. This statement created a political storm, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party reacted sharply.
Statement given in a planned manner: Dr. Radha Mohan Das
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Radha Mohan Das said that what Ramji Lal Suman had said that day if he had realized that he did it by mistake or it came out of his mouth in anger. And he would have clarified inside or outside the House that I did not want to say this. And if he had said that he was ashamed of his statement, the matter would have ended. Surprisingly, the MP has said that he will die but will not take back his statement. He will not take back his statement as long as he is alive. This shows that whatever he said was said after careful thought. He said it in full consciousness. He said it in a planned manner.
When Dr. Radha Mohan Das was speaking in the House, the opposition members interrupted him several times, after which he said If I create a ruckus, you will be disturbed.
Apart from the BJP, Congress leaders have also condemned the statement. Pramod Tiwari, Rajya Sabha MP of Congress from Rajasthan, said that what was not a part of the proceedings (statement of Samajwadi MP Ramji Lal Suman on Rana Sanga) should not be repeated. The same is being repeated today. Rana Sanga was a brave person of this country. He was our hero. We respect him like a hero. Rana Sanga is not of any caste or religion, he is the hero of the country. I salute the bravery of Rana Sanga. Rana Sanga was the national hero of this country.
Amid the uproar, the proceedings of the House were adjourned by the Chairman. The issue also gained momentum outside. Rajput organizations in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, especially the Karni Sena, have started protests against Suman. The Karni Sena attacked the MP’s house in Agra, in which there was a clash with the police, and many workers were injured. The organization has demanded the cancellation of Suman’s membership.
Historians also started a debate on this. Some say that Rana Sanga fought the Battle of Khanwa against Babar and did not call him. Meanwhile, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav clarified that his party does not want to insult any community.
