China’s chatbot DeepSeek has surprised the world. But for those who keep an eye on China, nothing is surprising in it.
For the last 10 years, China has been gradually mastering high-tech products including AI. This is a part of China’s highly ambitious ‘Made in China 2025’ plan.
For analysts, DeepSeek is an example of the success of a grand project.
In 2015, the Chinese government announced the ‘Made in China 2025’ plan.
The idea behind this was to establish high-quality and high-tech supremacy in the case of millions of things used every day.
Focus was placed on 10 areas
China selected 10 areas of the technology industry with the idea of being at the forefront in this matter by the year 2025 and AI, quantum computing, electric cars, renewable energy, and battery technology were given place in the documents.
China has achieved success in some areas and has become a big player and in some cases, it has achieved great success.
In the view of Dr. Yundan Gong, an expert in development economics at King’s College London, the ‘Made in China 2025’ project has been successful.
He said, “China is moving ahead in many areas, and in some areas, China has maintained its lead.”
Beating Germany, Japan, and America, China is at the forefront in terms of selling cars. The credit for this goes to the electric car manufacturing company BYD.
The success of EV is associated with China and it has also become the world’s largest battery manufacturing country.
China is ahead in terms of renewable energy
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), China exports 80 to 95 percent of solar panels worldwide for renewable energy.
Researchers believe that by 2028, China will become a powerhouse of renewable energy and China’s contribution to renewable energy worldwide will be about 60 percent.
China is also at the forefront in the case of drones. According to BCC research, Shenzhen-based DGI has a 70 percent market share globally. Three of the world’s 10 largest drone manufacturers are from China.
To achieve its goal, the Communist Party of China has set 250 goals through a roadmap. According to the South China Morning Post, China has achieved about 86 percent of these goals.

Joe Biden’s former advisor Lindsay Gorman says, “China’s model of state-supported capitalism is successful in which the government sets the agenda for research and funding.”
Gorman also points out how China persuades foreign talent and foreign companies to work with Chinese companies.
A huge amount of money is also spent on this. According to US Congress research, the Chinese government has set aside a grant of $1.5 trillion for research, development, and purchase of foreign companies.
Deepseeq is a big example
‘Made in China 2025’ has been so successful that in a few years, the government stopped saying that it is beating its opponents.
But it is also very late because in recent times many Western countries have banned the export of technology from China.
The plan was to slow down the pace of development and in the case of microchips, it seems to be working.
However, some analysts believe that some sanctions may have inspired China and ‘Made in China 2025’ became a means to become more self-reliant.
Professor Peng Zhou at Cardiff University’s School of Business says, “There is an old saying in China – life always finds its way. Sanctions can only change the roots, not its direction.”
Professor Zhou makes Deepseeq a big example of this. Due to US control on exports, the company did not get powerful chips to train its model.
For this reason, the company used less powerful chips and developed its chatbot at a lower cost through a new technology.
America is ahead in these matters
However, opponents are challenging these claims. But DeepSeek has surprised even US President Donald Trump and he has called it a wake-up call to the country’s big AI companies.
Chinese AI companies have more patents than any other country. Chinese companies like Alibaba and ByteDance are earning as much money through their products as Google and Open AI earn through their products.
However, despite ‘Made in China 2025’, America is the world leader in terms of AI.
Chinese scientists are publishing more research papers in quantum computing, but despite this, America is far ahead in many matters in quantum computing.
To face the challenge of China, America is trying to raise hundreds of billions of dollars in microchip manufacturing.
Concerns about national security are a challenge in the way of China. TikTok has been very successful in America, but now it is at risk of being banned due to the threat to national security.
Along with DeepSeek, the growth of Chinese e-commerce companies Temu and Shein is also in the circle of the message.
However, the Chinese telecom company Huawei had to find its path different from the Western countries. When concerns about national security started in 2019, it affected Huawei and due to the sanctions, its smartphone production was also affected.
Work is also being done on making its microchips in other parts of the world and a revenue of $ 100 million has been recorded while moving ahead of the sanctions of the West.
