Pune: Gaurav Ahuja, who was caught urinating in public at Shastringar Chowk, Yerwada, under the influence of alcohol, was taken into custody by Satara Police. Ahuja issued a video statement apologizing for his conduct and expressing his willingness to surrender. It is expected to be handed over to Pune Police soon.

It is speculated that the youth is apologizing to Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde in the viral video, referring to him as ‘Shinde saheb’. However, there is no confirmation of whom Ahuja referred to while apologetic. Following his statement, Ahuja surrendered to Satara police, who are now preparing to transfer him to Pune police for further legal proceedings.
Incident and Charges
The shocking incident took place in Yerwada, where Ahuja, reportedly intoxicated and driving a BMW, stopped at a traffic signal, left his car door open, and urinated at the road divider. When passersby encountered him, he exposed himself to them before speeding away. A video of the incident quickly went viral, drawing public anger.
Ahuja and his friend Bhagyash Oswal have been booked under multiple charges, including public nuisance, indecent conduct in a public place, and obstructing traffic under the Motor Vehicles Act. The complaint was lodged by police constable Ganesh Ashok Thopte (36) at the Yerwada Police Station.

Who is Gaurav Ahuja?
Ahuja and his father, Manoj Ahuja, have a known criminal past. In 2021, at the age of 20, Ahuja was booked for gambling and kidnapping at the airport police station in Pune, according to a Pune Pulse report. He was reportedly involved in a cricket betting racket led by Pune gangster Sachin Pote.
The gang targeted college students, luring them into gambling. Many students fell into debt and were forced to commit burglaries at home to repay the money. Those who failed to pay were kidnapped.
Police investigation going on
Authorities are now investigating further connections to Ahuja’s activities and considering additional charges. Pune Police is expected to release an official statement once he is in their custody.
