What is the whole matter?
A moral policing case from Bengaluru (Karnataka) has created a ruckus on social media. The incident took place on April 9 (Wednesday), when a burqa-clad Muslim girl was sitting on a scooty with her Hindu friend in the Chandra Layout area. Then, some Muslim youths stopped both of them and questioned them on religious grounds and behaved indecently.
What happened to the girl and the boy?
According to the local people, when the girl was sitting on a scooty with her friend, four Muslim youths stopped them and asked:
“Aren’t you ashamed to sit on a bike with a Hindu boy wearing a burqa?”
After this, the youths asked the girl for her family’s number and pressured her. The girl replied:
“He is my classmate. Why should I give you my family’s number?”
The youths then asked the Hindu youth why he was meeting a Muslim girl. The matter escalated when they made a video of the girl and the boy and made it viral on social media.

Police action
Karnataka: Bangalore police have arrested four individuals—Md Mohsin, Md Mansoor, Md Afridi, and Waseem Khan—in a moral policing case.

After receiving information about the incident, the police took immediate action on the girl’s complaint and arrested four suspects – Mohammad Mohsin, Mohammad Mansoor, Mohammad Afridi, and Wasim Khan.
The police clarified that:
“No one should take the law into their own hands. The privacy of every citizen must be respected.”
The case is currently under investigation.
State Minister Priyank Kharge’s reaction
Karnataka government minister Priyank Kharge strongly condemned the incident and said:
“Moral policing will not be tolerated in Karnataka. This is not Bihar, Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh. Karnataka is a progressive state.” His statement has also created a stir in political circles.
