On the occasion of Deepawali, the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, will be decorated with 10,000 diyas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the countrymen on the occasion of Deepawali and wished everyone a healthy, happy, and prosperous life. He wrote on X, “Many many happy wishes of Deepawali to the countrymen. On this auspicious festival, may everyone’s life be filled with happiness, prosperity, and well-being with the blessings of Maa Lakshmi and Lord Shri Ganesha.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also extended Deepawali greetings and wished new energy, enthusiasm, and positivity. He said on X, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to everyone on this great festival of lights, Deepawali. I pray to Maa Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha that all of you live a life filled with happiness, prosperity, and good fortune.”
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also wished everyone a happy and prosperous Deepawali and reiterated his commitment to take the state to new heights of development.
Diwali, considered the ‘festival of lights’, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
Meanwhile, the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar is being decorated with 10,000 diyas on Diwali.
A 55-foot tall statue of Lord Swaminarayan will also be installed here on the occasion of Diwali, whose Pranapratishtha ceremony will be held on November 11.
Jayesh Mandanka, a volunteer at Akshardham temple, told ANI, “Similar decorations with 10,000 diyas have been done at Akshardham temple every Diwali for the last 32 years. This year too, the decorations will continue till November 8 from 6 pm to 7:45 pm. A beautiful ‘glow garden’ has also been created here.” He said, “A 55-foot tall Panchdhatu statue of Lord Swaminarayan is being installed, whose Pranapratishtha ceremony will be held on November 11.”
