“In self-defense, the police retaliated, in which one of the accused was injured. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he succumbed. The other accused fled and efforts are on to arrest him,” Yadav said.
CCTV footage of the incident showed two unidentified men approaching the temple on a motorcycle. After waiting for a few seconds, one of them hurled an explosive towards the temple and both fled from there.
The Punjab Police suspects the involvement of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI in the attack.
Though there were no casualties in the incident, panic prevailed in the Khandwala area of Amritsar.
