Former Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal has accepted his party’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections.

In a video message, he said, “The decision of the people is acceptable to us. We accept our defeat with all humility. I congratulate BJP and hope that they will fulfill the expectations with which the people have elected them.”

Kejriwal further said, “We tried to do a lot of work in the 10 years of opportunity given to us by the people. We tried to improve education, health, water, and infrastructure. We will continue to work for the people in the future as well and will play the role of a constructive opposition.”

Congratulating the Aam Aadmi Party workers, he said, “You people fought the elections in a very good manner despite facing many difficulties. AAP candidate Manish Sisodia from the Jangpura seat and AAP candidate Awadh Ojha from the Patparganj seat have accepted their defeat. Tarvinder Singh Marwah of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Jangpura defeated former Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia by 675 votes. Awadh Ojha said, “The public has given me respect and I am in second place. I have started my political innings for the first time and I am happy with this achievement.”

Saurabh Bhardwaj has lost to BJP’s Shikha Roy from Greater Kailash seat by 3,188 votes.

BJP’s Abhay Verma from Laxmi Nagar defeated Aam Aadmi Party by 11,542 votes.

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Anjana Parcha is trailing from Trilokpuri seat.

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Kuldeep Kumar from Kondli has defeated BJP’s Priyanka Gautam by 6,293 votes.

Aatishi ahead of Ramesh Bidhuri

However, Aam Aadmi Party leader and current Chief Minister Atishi is leading by 3,521 votes from the Kalkaji seat over BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.

During the election campaign, sharp statements were seen between Atishi and Ramesh Bidhuri.

Bidhuri had commented on Atishi’s surname, after which Atishi cried in a press conference.

On the other hand, BJP candidate Kapil Mishra from Karawal Nagar seat defeated AAP’s Manoj Tyagi by a huge margin of 23,355 votes.

Kapil Mishra was earlier in the Aam Aadmi Party.

Which party got how much percentage of votes?

According to the counting done so far, Bharatiya Janata Party has got 45.84 percent votes and Aam Aadmi Party has got 43.70 percent votes.

Congress has got 6.39 percent votes. None of BSP, AIMIM, or Janata Dal-United has been able to reach even one percent of votes. Other candidates have got only 0.74 percent votes.

What is the situation in Mustafabad?

This seat is being discussed because Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM had fielded Delhi riots accused Tahir Hussain as a candidate from here.

From this Muslim-dominated seat, Mohan Singh Bisht of the Bharatiya Janata Party defeated Aadil Ahmed Khan of the Aam Aadmi Party by 17,578 votes.

Tahir Hussain of AIMIM got 33474 votes and came third.

Who is ahead among women candidates?

BJP candidate Shikha Roy has won from Greater Kailash seat. She defeated Aam Aadmi Party candidate and former minister of Delhi government Saurabh Bhardwaj by 3,188 votes.

On the Wazirpur seat, Poonam Sharma of the BJP defeated Rajesh Gupta of the Aam Aadmi Party by 11,425 votes. Congress’ Ragini Nayak is coming third in this seat.

In Shalimar Bagh, BJP candidate Rekha Gupta defeated Bandana Kumari of Aam Aadmi Party by 29,595 votes.

On the other hand, in Najafgarh, BJP candidate Neelam Pehelwan defeated Tarun Kumar of the Aam Aadmi Party by 29,009 votes.

When and which party won

In the 2013 assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP contested the assembly elections and won 28 out of 70 seats in its very first election.

At the same time, the BJP won more than 30 seats. After this, it could not even cross the double-digit mark.

In the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party got a majority.

At the same time, in the 2014, 2019, and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.

Till now, the command of Delhi has been in the hands of three parties – Congress, BJP, and Aam Aadmi Party. Congress was in power for 19 years and BJP for five years.

At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party has been in power for the last ten years.

BJP was in power in Delhi between 1993 and 1998. However, during this period it had three Chief Ministers.

The BJP won Delhi’s first assembly elections in 1993 and formed the government under Madan Lal Khurana, but within five years, the party elected three chief ministers but each one faced controversies and infighting.

The 1998 elections saw a drop in the BJP’s number of seats, while the Congress came to power under Sheila Dikshit. Sheila Dikshit remained chief minister for 15 years (1998-2013).
