The community center appealed to the Peel Police to pay attention to the threats spreading against the Brampton Triveni Temple and ensure safety for the Hindu community.
On Sunday, the Brampton Triveni Community Center in Canada canceled the life certificate distribution ceremony organized by the Indian Consulate. They made this decision expressing concern over the threat of violent protests. The consular camp was scheduled for November 17 to renew the required life certificates for Hindus and Sikhs of Indian origin.
The Brampton Triveni Community Center said, “The life certificate distribution ceremony organized by the Indian Consulate on November 17 has been canceled. This decision was taken after official intelligence from the Peel Regional Police. They said that there is a threat of high-level violent demonstrations.”
Community center appeals to ensure safety
The community center appealed to the Peel police to pay attention to the threats being spread against the Brampton Triveni Mandir and ensure the safety of the Hindu community. The temple administration said, “We apologize to all the community members who depended on this program. We are saddened that the people of Canada feel unsafe coming to the temples here. We informed the Peel police about this and appealed to them to ensure safety for the Hindu community in Canada.”
Violent clashes have happened before as well
Earlier on November 3, Khalistani supporters attacked the consular camp at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, which led to violence there. The Peel police took action against this violent clash. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned this violent clash. He called it a cowardly attempt to intimidate Indian diplomats. Along with this, he appealed to the Canadian authorities to take immediate action to ensure justice.
Let us tell you that the relations between the two countries came under serious strain after the Canadian government accused India of the involvement of Indian agents in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year. India rejected the allegations of the Canadian government.
